Pastor Jim Murray
Pastor James E. Murray was born in Waukegan, Illinois. His family relocated to Hartsville, South Carolina in 1968. He was saved at the age of 13 at the Bill Rice Ranch in Murfreesboro, Tennessee under the preaching of Dr. Ron Comfort. Bro. Murray was called to preach at the age of 14. He is a graduate of Hyles Anderson College. He has been on staff at Forest Hills Baptist Church for 35 years. He is married to Pam Smith Murray and has two sons and four grandchildren.

Bro. Roger Wayne Mitchum Bro. Roger is married to Mrs. Hailey and they have a beautiful little girl named Karrie. We are thrilled to have them here at FHBC! Bro. Roger's Testimony.
I was blessed to grow up in a Christian family. We attended church my entire life, but I never came to the realization that I was a sinner in need of a Savior. I remember many times when I would think about the reality of hell and how it was a place where people who never accepted Christ went; but I never truly saw myself as a sinner in need of a Savior. On September 8 of 2014 at a church in Lexington, South Carolina, Pastor Stephen Williamson was preaching and began to list sins. Many of the sins he listed were in my life, and God begin to deal with my heart about my need for salvation. The Lord reminded me all week long that I was lost and in need of a Savior. On Sunday night, September 14 of 2014; my pastor was preaching and gave an invitation. The Lord made it very clear to me that was the night that I needed to get saved or I may never have another chance to accept Christ. I went forward that night as a 17-year-old boy and told God all the sins in my life that I could think of, and that I knew and understood that there was nothing I could do to change who I was, but if I was going to change, it was going to take him coming into my heart, saving me and making me a new creature in Christ. I accepted the Lord that day and I’ve never regretted it. Several years later, on March the 2 of 2019 at a youth meeting, I fully surrendered my life to Christ for Him to use me however He saw fit! I began to serve God at my local church, and a few short years later God called me to preach on January the 28th of 2021. I met my beautiful wife, on December the 5th of 2021. I had been praying for a godly wife with the same standards, and desires that I had. After getting to know her more I knew that we shared the same desires! My wife Hailey and I were married March 25 of 2023. Since that day God has blessed us with a child and has called us to serve at Forest Hills Baptist church. God made it very clear to us through prayer that this is where He wants us to be, and we look forward to what He has in store for the future! |
